Red State Hypocrisy?

Ryan over at The Higher Pie points out a very interesting post by Ross over at It Affects You and corrolates it with a past post of his own.

Okay... now that I've got all the props taken care of, let's look at the goodies.

Ross corrolated CDC data on teen pregnancy rates with so-called red states (Bush won) and blue states (Kerry won). The results are pretty stark. The top 10 states? Red. Top 15 states? Red. It isn't until #16 that we see a blue state. Then it's all red states until #22. Out of the top 34 states in teen pregnancy rates, only 5 are blue states. In the bottom 16, only 2 are red states.

Not to be outdone, Ryan looked at Census data to corrolate divorce rates with red and blue states. Note that while he relied on somewhat dated '94 statistics, he linked to the more current '01 statistics and points out that not much has changed. And the rankings go pretty much like the teen pregnancy rate rankings do.

It seems clear that people who are genuinely concerned about teen pregnancy and the weakened state of the institution of marriage ought to have voted for Kerry. Perhaps that's exactly what happened and the Bush apologists are merely blowing hot air when they talk about family values?
