Get on your soapbox

One of the debates that liberals have most definitely lost in recent years is that of gun control. Whether just shouted down or found wrong in studies...this is one that liberals haven't been able to make work for them.

So if not gun control...then what? What can be done to keep guns out of the hands of criminals? What will keep gun violence to a minimum?

I have personally not been convinced that gun control isn't the way to go. But I'd like to hear from those who have ideas they think are better.
