They're trying to hide the bodies

Bush has banned the media from New Orleans.

John at Americablog:

Bob Brigham has just reported - and this is why we need OUR folks on the ground, to report this stuff - the military is banning all reporters from New Orleans. Outrageous. If you kill a couple thousand people, you definitely want to keep the media and the public from finding out.

John suggests folks call the White House and complain. I think that's a waste of time.

People need to be contacting CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS and MSNBC to get them to ignore the Bush edict. All of these organizations have the ability to get air transportation to fly directly into the area. Is the National Guard really going to shoot down a press helicopter? Especially if they're doing a live feed?

There is no national security risk to have photos of the recovery in New Orleans. There's a great big risk to Bush politically if photo after photo of decaying, bloated bodies are published.

Rove has been working at a fever pitch to stage photo ops of the President with Coast Guard helicopters and firefighters. The contrast of piles of dead bodies is going to be stark.

And another thing, if this whole mess is the fault of Louisiana's state and local authorities, why does Bush need to keep the news media out?
