Bush's values are un-American values

Via the latest factcheck.org mailing which is not yet on their website:

Bush: On the issue of secret evidence – another creation of the Clinton/Gore Justice Department – I am also troubled by the disturbing stories of how this policy is being implemented. More and more, new immigrants, often Arab or Muslim immigrants, face deportation or even imprisonment based on evidence they've never seen and never been able to dispute. That's not the American way. - Written statement by then Governor Bush during the 2000 presidential campaign.

Since then Bush has come to embrace the un-American value of using secret evidence.

"He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach himself."
-- Thomas Paine
