Liberal Media Bias - It Must Be True

The Moonie Times is carrying a report today on a Zogby poll showing that 87% of Americans believe the media is biased. 97% of Republicans and 2/3 of independents believe the media leans left (it's practically an article of faith for the right), while 2/3 of Democrats and 23% of independents believe it leans right. Regular readers of David Brock's Media Matters site might very well disagree. Much of the right-wing bias in the media goes undiscovered or unrecognized. Brock has a new article that looks at how the right continues to dominate Sunday talk shows, and his site is chock full of examples of routine right-wing bias and manipulation of the news.

I think you can find numerous cases of liberal bias in local media, where reporters' views are less subject to editing and oversight. Hence, you will find things like restrictive planning and social programs framed favorably, while conservative proposals are placed in a bad light. But it certainly seems to me that in the cases where bias most endangers our country's well-being it tends to be toward the right, as in the case of reporting of information that may be harmful to advertisers, powerful corporations, or powerful political figures.
